We had two main
speakers on Saturday night. Alex Hodgin entertained us, with his
special brand of humor, just like he did in Venice. Col. Hershell
Murray, class rep for 1955, gave us a much more somber talk as he
relayed the details of a fateful day when he learned about the death of
his good friend and former KMI cadet, Major Lon Spurlock, whose
helicopter was shot down in Vietnam.
Most of the class reps did outstanding jobs keeping their classmates informed. The largest turnouts this year came from the classes of 1948, 1954, 1955, and 1966. Those cadets who traveled the farthest included Col. Park Shaw, class of 1942 from Arizona, Steve Sather, Pete Schwab, and Skip Kominek, all from the class of 1966 and all from California, and Paul Whitney, class of 1968, from Washington.
